Binder Twine Festival 2018 has a Date and Time!

Binder Twine Festival

Details of this year’s Binder Twine Festival in Kleinburg have been released! This is the village’s biggest and most exciting event of the year!

It all started back in the 1800s when farmers would travel to the Village of Kleinburg to purchase twine to bind their sheaves of wheat.

Charlie Shaw, owner of Shaw’s Hardware Store, would provide food and entertainment for the farmers. He did this every year until his passing in 1931. The concept was revived in 1967 and has been going strong ever since.

What we love about the Binder Twine Festival is that there are more than 800 volunteers from the community involved. The Festival brings friends and families together, supporting and improving the community is a variety of ways.

The success of the festival has led to the creation of new parks and public spaces, support for schools and community programming, the development of new street signage, and much more.

The Binder Twine Festival features crafts, “Olde Tyme” activities, and plenty of food. One of the biggest attractions is the Queen Contest, where participants aged 16 and up compete in a variety of challenges, including flipping pancakes, hammering nails, and even milking a cow!

The festival takes place on September 15 from 9-5pm at 8 Nashville Rd. in Kleinburg. Keep your eye out for more details as we get closer to the date!
