Just because it’s almost September doesn’t mean summer is over! It looks like we have more heat in the forecast, so you still have time to partake in some great summer events. Here are three events in Durham that you should check out!  

Historic Lakeview Park Walking Tours

These walking tours have taken place every Wednesday this month, which means you only have one more chance to participate on August 25! 

The Historic Lakeview Walking Tour starts at 10am at the Oshawa Museum, Guy House. Led by the Oshawa Museum, the tour details the history of the Oshawa Harbour and you also explore the Port Oshawa Pioneer Cemetery. Tickets are $5/person

Did you know that there are more than 90 outdoor public sculptures in Durham? The sculptures are by emerging and world-renowned artists, and you can learn all about them and take photos during the walking tour. 

The Sculptures tour has two upcoming dates, August 21 and 28. The free event kicks off at 8am at Lakeview Park. Don’t forget to snap some photos and post them to social media because there are prizes to be won! 

Durham Region International Film Festival

That’s right, DRIFF is back! This year, they are doing a special drive-in series, celebrating the region’s rich diversity and local Canadian filmmakers. 

All screenings take place at the south parking lot at Whitby Town Hall. The next screening is on August 26, and there are two more upcoming on September 9 and 30. The August 26 theme is Caribbean Heat with two films showing, it should be really good! Admission price is $15/vehicle.
