Lake Wilcox Park 

By far one of the best waterfront parks in the GTA, is Lake Wilcox Park. It features a playground, splash pads, washrooms, picnic and seating areas, and a youth area with a skate park, beach volleyball courts, and a multi-sports court. 

One of the highlights of the park is the stunning boardwalk, which is a suspended 130 metre long crescent that juts out from the shoreline. This pedestrian walkway is 3 metres wide and is one of the best ways to take in the fresh lake air. 

Lake Wilcox Park is located at 55 Olde Bayview Ave., which is about 10 minutes away from Leslie and Elgin Mills, where Fieldgate is building our Richlands community! 

Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts

Located in the heart of historic downtown, the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a cultural hub for not only the city, but all of York Region. The 4,000 square metre centre features 631 seats, and is considered an impressive venue for both local and international performances. 

The Centre coordinates many community events, like the Concerts in the Parking Lot series, and also offers programming for students. A cultural hub like this is important for a city to support diversity in arts and entertainment!

David Dunlap Observatory 

Since 2009, the DDO has been recognized as a “property of cultural heritage value or interest.” It opened in 1935 and now serves as a research centre for the University of Toronto’s Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. There is also public programming available! 

There are many onsite programs for the public, including Astronomy Speaker nights, family nights, classes that teach you how to use your own telescope, and of course stargazing!
