3 Ways to Stay Active in Ajax this Winter!

With another round of gym and recreational closures in Ontario, it’s important to remain active for both your physical and mental health. It’s a good thing that Ajax has so many outdoor winter activity options!
Outdoor Skating

Skating is great exercise, it works your hips and legs, cardio, and even your core. The Pat Bayly Square Outdoor Rink is located at 55 Bayly St., just 1 minute from our aTowns community! You can even walk there in 10 minutes.
The outdoor rink at 55 Bayly is open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 9pm, and you don’t have to pre-register. You can also call ahead at 365-885-3848 to check on the rink status if you’re visiting from further away.
Winter Hiking

Ajax has more than 50km of maintained trails and walking paths, one of the favourites is the William A. Parish Waterfront Trail, which is 7km long. The waterfront is less than 10 minutes away from aTowns!
The town also features 95 parks and 925 hectares of outdoor recreation space, including some outdoor fitness equipment. One of the largest parks is the Greenwood Conservation Area, which offers 6.5 km of trails and stunning natural landscape.
Snowshoeing

Have you ever tried snowshoeing? If so, you know how good of a workout it is. The Town of Ajax actually has a snowshoe loan program so that you can get outdoors and try something new.
You can borrow up to 4 pairs at one time at no cost! So you can get the whole family out or join some friends for a snowshoeing adventure. You can borrow the snowshoes from the McLean Community Centre at 95 Magill Dr. in Ajax.
